UNITY AT UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA
What is Stress Free UC?
Stress Free UC is a research study that responds to the needs of UC Employees.
We aim to study how learning mindfulness through digital platforms can address work stress and make the UC community a healthier, happier place to be.

What do we know about work stress?
Job stress is one of the major sources of stress reported by American adults. High work stress can lead to poor mental and physical health, including depression, anxiety, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. In fact, an estimated 5-8% of annual U.S. healthcare costs are due to work-related stressors.

Why mindfulness?
Mindfulness is about giving yourself an opportunity to turn attention inwards and giving the mind a different perspective. It is the ability to develop a sense of acceptance and appreciation for whatever may arise in your experience.
Research suggests that mindfulness programs can lower stress and improve mood, allowing for greater empathy towards yourself and others.

Why digital mindfulness?
Digital mindfulness, on your computer or smartphone, is a convenient, easy and time-efficient way to improve your mental wellbeing. Digital programs are comparable to clinical treatments for anxiety, depression, and improving wellbeing and compassion. All it takes is about 10 minutes per day to make a change in your life.
